We are in MN!

Well, the last few days have been crazy! We left Athens very early
Friday morning (5am) after a restless night of sleep (aka 2 hours) to
go to Atlanta. We got to the airport on time, boarded the plane, and we
both planned on sleeping the 2 1/2 hour flight.Until..... the kid next
to us started throwing temper tantrums and of course the parents
couldn't care less. So we got a little sleep on the plane and my mom
picked us up from the airport in Minneapolis.

I would love to share more, but unfortunately I cant get my pictures to upload and it just wouldn't be right to blog about my trip with out pictures!! So you will have to wait! :)

Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Well it is almost 11pm and we will be getting up in about 4 hours to fly to Minneapolis, MN. Our flight leaves at 8:15 therefor we need to leave Athens around 5:30 to drive to Atlanta, park our car, hop on a shuttle and get to the airport. We will arrive in MPLS around 9:45 and hang out with my mom and dad for the day....then we will spend the night with Eric's family. Saturday we will be at a cousin's wedding and on Sunday we drive to International Falls, MN.....so until I have time to blog....see you on the flip side!! :)

Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii

OK....so you are probably wondering who is Talula!?! No....I did not go to Hawaii, nor do I know anyone named Talula. Apparently, "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii" is the name a little girl from New Zealand was given when she was born. What was this parent thinking!?!?!
I came across this story on CNN.com and I just couldn't believe some of the other names it listed that people actually named their children! Now I am all about unique names...but "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii"....come on people!

So what I want to know is...have you ever met anyone with an unusual name? Or maybe you hate the name your parents gave you. Please share with us!! It cant be as bad as "Talula Does the Hula From Hawaii" :)

Sandy Creek Nature Trail

Saturday Eric and I went to Sandy Creek to do a little hiking/walking on the trails they have. It was pretty much all flat ground and boardwalk so I guess it was more like walking than hiking. We walked almost 5 miles and everything was very pretty...we will have to go again soon! Here are some pics for you to see.

The Brockmann Low Country "Bowl"

(It is actually called a Low Country Boil but if you have a Southern accent it is pronounced "bowl" :)

We had a great time at the LCB this year and ate WAY too much food... as you can see from my previous post. The way this works (for all you Northerners...this may be a new experience... it was for me last year!) is the host cooks an ENORMOUS amount of food in a massive pot (Brockmann's had 2). They cooked crab, shrimp, corn, sausage, and potatoes all in one pot and then it gets dumped out on to a table and it is a free for all! Everyone just stands around the table to eat or like us we grabbed plates to get away from the feeding frenzy. So here are some pics of the food and us enjoying the food!

In the middle of the night....

my tummy started a rumblin. I just woke up... hot, dreaming of spiders, and my stomach just didn't feel right. I think the food from the Low Country Boil is taking its toll on me :(
I feel I should make a little note to my self that next year I should not eat the spicy sausage, and I should also not eat so much shrimp and other delicious items.
For now...I will try and go back to bed even though I am soooo uncomfortable...hopefully there will be no more spiders...

Reminiscing...

This weekend I learned that one of my long time friends Tara and her family are moving back to MN from Seattle. I am supper excited for the Jackson family, and even a little jealous (both her living in Seattle and moving back to the homeland). But thinking of Tara made me reminisce about some of the great times we had throughout our friendship....we have traveled to Mexico (Spring Break baby!!) and South Africa together, Went to HS & College together, went to the same church, liked the same boys :) lived together, we were in each others weddings as well as the weddings of other close friends. So this is a shoutout to my girl Tara (aka Tati) and I am excited to see where I friendship will go in the future!

PS. here is a pic of Tara and her son Tyler who just turned one!! :) Happy Birthday Tyler from your Aunt Jill!! :)

A horse is horse of course!

Yesterday morning we woke up bright at early (8:00...he he) and headed down to good old Monroe, Ga for a little Horseback riding with our friends Greg & Val. Greg's family owns 3 horses and they were gracious to share them with us! We had SOOO much fun but our bums are a little tender :)Here are some pics from the day...

They met when they were young and bonded by playing video games....today they still bond over video games but there is a lot more to their relationship as well! While Gabe was here the two guys went to Tallulah Gorge state park and Gabe took some awesome pictures that he was willing to share with me! So here you go!!

PS. Gabe, it was so great to have you here! You are welcome back any time :)

Grad school??

So I have been thinking a lot lately of going back to school for my Masters. I know I am crazy since my husband is still in grad school and will be for the next 3 years....but here are my reasons why:
1. To advance my career
2. Have something to do in my spare time
3. This would be the best time (living in college town, before kids, do homework while the hubby is doing homework....)
4. And to just plain learn more

There are also several reasons why I shouldn't go back to school.....
1. Eric is still in school
2. It would take forever (as I will still have to work full-time)
3. MONEY
4. Did I really enjoy school before!?!?! :)

I am not sure what route I would take....MBA? Masters in Communication? Some other business related degree?? No idea....but I am mulling it over for now. What do you think???

4th of July!!

That means I haven't posted in 3 weeks! Where has the time gone!?!? Well here are some fun pictures from the 4th. We started the day at Casey Mullany's place, had some burgers, some drinks...some vodka watermelon (OMG it was gooood!!), and some fun in the pool followed up with tequila shots :)

After the fun at Casey's we headed over to the Kelley's for some more grillin', whiffel ball, and fireworks!
