Computer broke down.....

It is a sad day folks! Our computer broke down! The battery has been at the end of it's life for some time now and it just wont turn on anymore (is this normal??). So I will be unable to blog until it is fixed...hopefully soon!

Sorry to the faithful few that read my blog!

CSA Week 8

We are coming to a close on our weekly shares from the Farm. This week has been the best by far! We got: lettuce, radishes, cucumber, garlic, squash, zucchini, corn, potatoes, green beans, onions, peppers and tomatoes! We have already eaten the corn (so good!) and I used the zucchini to make zucchini bread (also good!). Everything else we will use this weekend while my mom is visiting! I am really going to miss getting these veggies every week!

4th of July

This year we had the annual party at the Kelly's residence. To start out the evening we played some wiffel ball. The "Badgers" and the "other team" ended up having a tie. We had a TON of good food for dinner: brats, mac & cheese, potato salad, fruit, corn on the cob, and white wine sangria (YUM!). Once it got dark the guys started lighting fireworks. The best part was they used "defective" fireworks...not sure what that means but we did have a few scary experiences! After the fireworks we watched Top Gun outside....it was awesome! Who doesn't like a little Top Gun?? It was a great 4th of July!!

The AT - Hightower to Gooch Gap

On Friday we hiked another 8.3 miles on the Appalachian Trail. We started at Hightower Gap and ended at Gooch Gap. This hike was a lot more strenuous than the first section we hiked. There are a lot of steep up and downs...I am not going to lie...it was hard!!! As always the mountain scenery was beautiful and the company was fun. :) By the end of the trial we were all worn out with sore muscles and blisters on our feet. I actually got a leg crap just as we were getting in the car to go home...that didn't feel good. BUT it did feel good to complete another section of the AT. Our next part will be just as hard and we are planning to spend a night or two on the trails. I cant wait!!

Cleaning House

This week we did a lot of well deserved cleaning in and outside of the house. We have been busy little bees cleaning every room in our house and I have to say, it is looking good! We also have spent a little time cleaning outside the house. On Tuesday we worked on cleaning out the gutters (we had trees growing in them!)...well Eric cleaned the gutters while I watched to make sure he didn't fall off the ladder. :) It always feels good to get things accomplished, doesn't it??

(Sorry for 3 posts in a row! I have been slacking!)

CSA Week 7

This week we got more cucumbers! I guess I will just have to make more pickles :) We also got red potatoes, green tomatoes, baby leeks, beets (will they ever stop?!), garlic, zuchini, squash, lettuce, basil, and pole beans. We have made a veggie pizza with some of the veggies but we have barley made a dent this week. I guess it is only Thursday....

Pickling: UPDATE

Well my pickling was a success! Eric and I both like the pickles I made and we plan to make some more! I will admit they were a bit heavy on the garlic, but I will try to fix that next time!
